Your friend ditches you, uses you to get what s/he wants and leaves you after that, borrows money and never pays back, takes advantage of you when you are drunk, accuses you of things you didn’t do, spreads rumors about you… and the list goes on.
Since you love and care for them, you choose to forgive them even if you’re still hurting. Since you love and care for them you choose to forget even if at times images of what happened still haunt you leaving you crying and hurting all over again. Since you love and care for them, you choose to be “normal” again even if you know to yourself that you still need time to heal.
You chose to forgive cause you want to save the friendship, you chose to forgive cause you know people make mistakes..
But what if there are times when you suddenly realize the gravity of what they did? Is it too late to not talk to them for a while since you’ve already “forgiven” them (well that’s what they know, and that’s what you told them). Is it too late to hurt, to cry, to feel anything about what happened? Is it your fault that you still can’t move on? Are you the bad person now?
Cheers to all the forgiving friends! I salute you.
